Ma and Pa Equipment List

 

5 gallon bucket and lid- Your life for 3 days!

You will need to bring a 5 gallon bucket with the following contents on the trek:

 Bucket Contents:

Packing tip:  putting things in baggies could be helpful

1 bedroll

1 rain poncho

Enough plastic (tarp) to serve as a ground cover and shelter

1 pair of old running shoes

4 pairs of sturdy socks

2 extra sets of underclothing

2 bandanas

1 metal pie plate, 1 large spoon and 1 tin cup

1 small hand towel, comb or brush, bar of soap

1 toothbrush

Toothpaste

Small first aid kit

Old set of scriptures

Pen/pencil

2 heavy duty garbage bags

Chapstick, sunblock, insect repellent

Deodorant

Pair of garden gloves or heavy work gloves

Disposable camera (optional)

Pocket knife

Water bottle

 

Men Should Bring:

2 pairs of khaki/wool/canvas pants

2 long sleeved shirts

1 western style hat

1 pair of suspenders

 

Women Should Bring:

2 mid-calf, long sleeved dresses or 2 long sleeved shirts and mid-calf length skirts

1 bonnet

2 pairs of knee length bloomers (can be made rom old pajama bottoms/hospital pants) IT IS BEST IF THE BLOOMERS DO NOT HAVE ELASTIC ON THE LEGS.

1 apron

Feminine hygiene supplies

 

You may want to cover your bucket with padding as it will serve as your camp chair.

 

You may be able to find a free bucket at your local bakery/grocery/Sam’s Club etc.  Frosting comes in these buckets.  Make sure to ask for the lid and make sure the lid fits.

 

If you cannot find a free bucket, you may be able to find one at Lowes, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, etc. for a few dollars.

 

Ma and Pa Packing List

 In addition to items on your personal equipment list, as a Ma & Pa couple you will need to gather the following items for your family. You should try to use items you already have, or that you can borrow from within your ward. If you need help with any other items on this list, please contact Matt or Dawn Hubbard.   Make sure you LABEL ALL YOUR GEAR with your last name.

2-12-inch Dutch-ovens with lids

1-Dutch-oven lid lifter

1-2 large tarps

1 charcoal chimney

1-5-gallon water cooler

1-Dutch oven lid rest

1-Pair heavy gloves (Dutch-oven gloves or welding gloves)

1-pair of long, metal tongs for picking up charcoal

1-shovel

1-    Rope, ¼” or clothes-line type

Extra utility rope or bailing twine (50-100’) for shelter or for securing gear on handcart 

Camp Kitchen in waterproof box

3-4 knifes

1-2 cutting boards

can opener

ladle

whisk

large non-metal spoon

hot pad

Dutch oven scraper or flat bottom spoon

salt and pepper

small mixing bowl
